4 NFL Draft prospects Philadelphia Eagles must avoid at six
If the Philadelphia Eagles have a shot at Lawrence, start an investigation.
Again, there’s no way that Trevor Lawrence is getting past the Jacksonville Jaguars at number one, at least we think so. Stranger things have happened. Well, that isn’t totally true. Nothing would be stranger, but you get the idea.
Again, the draft is full of surprises every year, but it seems unfathomable that the draft’s best prospect at the quarterback position would get past the Jags, the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins, and the Atlanta Falcons. Then, there’s this to consider. If that happens, there needs to be some sort of investigation as to why it’s happened.
BYU’s Zach Wilson, Ohio State’s Justin Fields, North Dakota State’s Trey Lance, and Alabama’s Mac Jones are universally seen as the best prospects at the position once Lawrence is off of the board. It’s hard to imagine a scenario where the Birds eschew another need to take another signal-caller, but that’s what we thought about the second round last season.
Rather than do that, this team needs to develop Jalen Hurts (if he winds up being the starter). If they want to take a potential backup on Day 3, fine. That would make sense, but even though the idea has been tossed around (former Eagle Ike Reese even brought up the idea on 94 WIP-FM once), taking a signal-caller at six makes no sense for this team. If you’re a Birds fan, cross your fingers that they don’t.
