The Philadelphia Eagles desperately need playmakers on defense.

K’Von Wallace, safety

For many Philadelphia Eagles fans, the focus is currently on the offense with the Carson Wentz drama, the hiring of Nick Sirianni, the lack of playmakers, and the inability of the offensive line to stay healthy.

This team’s defense might be the bigger area that this franchise needs to address though. Having a few breakout players on that side of the ball would make a huge difference in this team’s success going forward.

K’Von Wallace could be one of those breakout stars. At Clemson, he moved around a lot. He played in the box, in the slot, he was sent on blitzes, played single-high coverage, and he played in two deep sets.

That versatility wasn’t utilized by Jim Schwartz. Under a new defensive coordinator in Jonathan Gannon and a new defensive coaching staff, that could change. We could see K’Von develop into the third safety for this team and a key role player who can do it all.

Shaun Bradley

Whenever Shaun Bradley was on the field, he made big-time plays. In Week 5, he stuffed James Conner at the goal line. In Week 14, Josh Sweat made a huge sack on fourth and two in the fourth quarter. What fans didn’t see on the television copy was Bradley sprinting down the seam to cover Emmanuel Sanders and take away an option for Taysom Hill.

Bradley is a true ‘Temple Tuff’ player and a hard worker. In limited snaps, he showed flashes of potential. With more snaps, we’ll, more than likely, see a few more mistakes but we’ll also see growth.

Bradley could develop into a starting linebacker for this defense in the future. That shouldn’t stop the Birds from bringing in more youth at the position, but they can count on Bradley to compete in every practice rep. He’s the type of player who could steal a job over the summer and be in the middle of the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense on the first snap in Week 1.
