5 Positions where 2021’s Philadelphia Eagles must begin their rebuild
By Joe Walls
Before we discuss the Philadelphia Eagles’ biggest needs, think about this.
You can’t make this stuff up. The Philadelphia Eagles have been the knee-slapping laughingstock of the NFL for a full two to three months. The team’s executive vice president and general manager, Howie Roseman, the big wheeler and dealer that he is, got hit by his own pitch. He’s been getting torched by the notoriously mercurial Birds fans and the Philly media.
The Eagles need to approach the offseason as if they are building a team entirely from scratch, which they almost are. If executed properly, Philadelphia could potentially be playoff-bound in two short seasons.
If the leadership wants to recreate the rapid turnaround that leads to a Championship, they need to hit on their draft picks from now on. Roseman and the personnel department need to approach the draft with a team-building strategy in mind. They have to avoid plug-and-play selections.
It would be too simple to say they should draft the best player available. They should draft the best player available from these five roster positions. If they do that, they should have a nice foundation in place.
