Philadelphia Eagles scouting reports: Top 3 Big 12 cornerbacks
You can best believe the Philadelphia Eagles know who Rodarius Williams is.
If he’s reading this, Rodarius Williams is thinking to himself “I see Tre Brown’s 44 career games, and I raise him by another”. The Bedlam Series comes but once a year, but if you think the rivalry between Norman’s Sooners and Stillwater’s Oklahoma State Cowboys is limited to a single game on the football field that comes annually, think again.
The Cowboys are always looking over at what the Sooners are doing and looking to do them one better, so they may be taking pride in the fact that Williams edges out Brown for the top spot on this list of the best NCAA cornerback prospects entering the 2021 NFL Draft.
Williams has to be seen as that guy. Chip Kelly would have loved him when he was the Philadelphia Eagles’ coach because he has the size (he’s six-foot-tall and tips the scales at 195 pounds). He’s also smooth and fluid in his movements and doesn’t mind sticking his head in to make a tackle.
He had 169 of those in his four years with Oklahoma State. That includes 137 of the solo variety and 5.5 that resulted in a loss of yardage. Add that to two career picks, a forced fumble, and 27 pass breakups, and you have a stat line that quite a few collegiate prospects wish they shared.
Rodarius is probably sick of having this brought up because he’s a stud in his own right, but he’s the younger brother of Greedy Williams. No damage has been done to the gene pool here. Williams is going to make some NFL team happy. Scouts see him as a potential second-round or third-round selection. The ITI staff will do you one better. Think of him as one of the top ten corners in this year’s draft. You can place a period at the end of that sentence.
