. . Round 5: Malik Herring, Georgia. . player. 814.

Malik Herring could be the perfect pass-rusher for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Georgia Bulldogs pass-rusher Malik Herring is a six-foot-three, 280-pound force on the defensive side of the ball. He could be the perfect upgrade to the Birds’ defense.

Herring is capable of playing on the edge or the inside with the big-boys, He’s a versatile monster. Landing the former Bulldog here in the middle of the draft is a steal, one that could be a great investment moving forward.

Later in Round 5, the Philadelphia Eagles take Ifeatu Melifonwu from Syracuse.

Six-foot-three, 215-pound cornerback Ifeatu Melifonwu is a legit steal here in the fifth round. A true outside corner, Melifonwu has the tools and skillset to be a real force at the next level.

A big-bodied prospect on the outside, the former Syracuse star is a freakish athlete. He’s capable of covering on an island or coming up and playing the run, Melifonwu is a thumper with a nasty playing style.

As mentioned, the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense needs help all over the place, so landing these two studs in the fifth round might be a move the Birds celebrate for years to come.
