This Philadelphia Eagles star has been injured a lot.

Trading Brooks doesn’t help the Birds much in the short term for financial and performance reasons. The goal every season is for an NFL team to field the best team possible. This Eagles offensive line isn’t better without Brandon Brooks. Look no further than what this team looks like when he’s gone if you need any evidence.

Sure, the injuries scare you. Why wouldn’t they? Brandon Brooks left the Eagles’ final game of the 2018-2019 run, a playoff game versus the New Orleans Saints, on a stretcher. He was carted off of the field in the regular-season finale versus the New York Giants to close the 2019-2020 run. In 2020, he tore his Achilles before the season even began, but he began practicing towards the end of the regular season.

He should be ready to go by the beginning of the season, and Philly’s line improves vastly by adding him to it. Yes, it’s fair to say that Brooks is someone this team can’t rely on to stay healthy, but he’s worth gambling on, especially in ways that Philly was unwise to gamble on Darren Sproles, Vinny Curry, and Jason Peters.

This team still needs its starting right guard. You saw what they looked like in 2020 without him right?
