Philadelphia Eagles draft watch: All-ACC, seven-round NFL mock
Adding two corners wouldn’t be a bad idea for this Philadelphia Eagles team.
As great as Caleb Farley is, adding him alone won’t satisfy the Eagles’ need for cornerback help. It feels like they need five even if that may not be the case.
Once teams arrive at Round 7 of the NFL Draft, they’re normally just hoping to find capable reserves. In the case of this Birds team, as bad as their roster is, a seventh-rounder needs to be someone who can come in compete for a roster spot and/or playing time.
Recently, Philadelphia has gotten lucky before when taking players this late (Jalen Mills and Jordan Mailata). They’ll need to recapture some of that same magic again in 2021’s selection meeting. Patrice Rene may be able to fit the bill.
He’s six-foot-three. He tips the scales at 205 pounds, and in 32 career games, he’s hauled the ball carrier down 103 times. Add that to two interceptions, 12 pass breakups, and a forced fumble. He’s as good as anyone the Philadelphia Eagles can get in Round 7.
