3,500 passing yards for Jalen Hurts sounds about right.

While being mobile is a great quality to have, there’s something else that you’ve probably learned about quarterbacks that are playing at the NFL level. As great as it is to possess a nice set of wheels, they have to know how to spin the ball too.

Every time we watch those frantic come-from-behind drives in the fourth quarter, they always end the same way. Regardless of how much the quarterback used his legs to set his team up with an opportunity to win, victory often comes one way. The signal-caller has to make a throw from the pocket to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Sure, Hurts rather unimpressively completed 52 percent of his passes during his rookie NFL campaign, but we’ve heard about his limitations as a passer before. During his days with the Alabama Crimson Tide, there were narratives about him needing to improve from the pocket. Then, all of a sudden, he got with the quarterback whisperer, Lincoln Riley.

The next thing you know Hurts throws for 3,851 yards and 32 touchdowns. Call it a crazy hunch, but coaching never seems to go out of style. Expect for Hurts to throw for 3,500 yards with an offseason, an offense that’s tailored to his strengths, 16 full games, and a real offensive coordinator.
