Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Realistic expectations for Alex Singleton in 2021
Alex Singleton starts all 16 games for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021.
Heading into the new league year, before anyone begins talking free agency or anything happens from a roster standpoint, the Philadelphia Eagles currently have eight linebackers on the current roster. Here are the names if you need a refresher:
Joe Bachie, Shaun Bradley, Davion Taylor, T.J. Edwards, Nathan Gerry, Duke Riley, Rashad Smith, and Mr. Singleton. The only person on that list that can say he’s been both healthy and someone who’s proven he deserves a roster spot is Singleton.
Bradley and Taylor are both young and draftees from a year ago, but they also have a lot to learn. Riley is serviceable. Edwards can play, kind of, but if Philly’s going to bank on someone to relay the play call to his teammates and deliver the goods on all three downs, the only person that makes Birds fans and the media feel totally comfortable is Singleton.
During the 2020-2021 season, he appeared in all 16 games and started 11 of them. This coming season, he should get the nod for all 16 games as a starter. He’s definitely earned the right to compete for a spot in the lineup.
