Are more snaps and special teams work reasonable Philadelphia Eagles fans’ requests?

If we didn’t learn anything else about John Hightower in 2020, it was this. The dude knows how to make a tackle if need be. If you’ll remember it was 82 that brought down Jimmy Moreland after that Carson Wentz interception in the season-opener that seemingly got the avalanche started in our nation’s capital.

As you can see in the above photo, Mr. Hightower’s defensive back skills were again on full display after 11 gift-wrapped one on a perfect pass to James Bradberry in the second quarter of Week 7’s game.

82 won’t be credited with a tackle on that one as the play resulted in a touchback and first-and-ten for the New York Giants at their own 20-yard line, but it does lead us to a couple of interesting questions.

As stated earlier, Hightower was in for 346 offensive snaps in 2020. One, that would add some intrigue to the 40-target and 30-catch theory, right? That should be doable. Secondly, it would stand to reason that he could and probably should get some special teams snaps too. He didn’t get any of those in 2020.

John Hightower was a fifth-round selection in 2020. If he isn’t going to contribute with any touchdowns (no disrespect to his efforts on a nice two-point conversion), he can at least make a few plays on special teams, right?
