Philadelphia Eagles draft watch: All-Pac-12, seven-round NFL mock
The Philadelphia Eagles add punch at two positions of need in Round 5.
Round five of the 2021 NFL Draft gives the Philadelphia Eagles two draft picks, one of which coming by way of the rival Dallas Cowboys. With the first, they take a linebacker, someone to help solidify a unit that always seems to require help. With the second, they find another wide receiver.
Philly’s first selection in Round 5 is Jahad Woods of the Washington State Cougars. He’s a former teammate of Andre Dillard’s that tallied 319 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, six pass breakups, and four interceptions in 43 career games at the collegiate level.
Philly’s second prospect taken in Round 5 is Amon-Ra St. Brown of the USC Trojans. Now, while some of you want to throw the challenge flag and say that he won’t be available this late, there’s a possibility that he could be. Why? It’s actually quite simple. Some of these draft picks are going to slide, and if we’re being honest, St. Brown should have returned to the Trojans for another season.
He isn’t quite polished yet. He isn’t in that elite group of wide receiver prospects that includes Ja’marr Chase and DeVonta Smith. He may not even be in the next tier (Tutu Atwell, Rashod Bateman, and Rondale Moore). Come to think about it, he may not even be in the third tier (Elijah Moore, Tamorrion Terry, and Sage Surratt) or the one after that (Shi Smith, Tylan Wallace).
So, we reiterate. Don’t be surprised if St. Brown is still on the board on Day 3. He’s no slouch. He definitely can ball. There are simply too many guys that can be ranked higher. Even still, this is a bigger-bodied prospect that gives Philly nice value at a position of need on Day 3.
