. . Rd 7: Mustafa Johnson, Colorado. . player. 857.

The Philadelphia Eagles find another defensive end in Round 7.

If you’re looking for a nice rotational defensive end that can cause a few headaches for opposing quarterbacks, you’ll like Mustafa Johnson out of Colorado. He’s a little smaller than some of you will like, but he has the motor that should make any Birds enthusiast see him as an immediate fan favorite.

In 26 career games as a collegiate standout, he tallied 100 total tackles including 50 of the solo variety and 26 that occurred behind the line of scrimmage. Add that to a stat line that boasts 15 career sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and a defensive touchdown in 2019.

Johnson is about as solid a prospect that you could find this late in the 2021 draft, and his addition to the Philly defense would reunite him with his former college teammate Davion Taylor in the NFL as a member of a Birds roster that could use a few defensive playmakers.

Here’s what’s crazy. If that were to happen, there might even be a chance that Johnson would see the field more often than Taylor would. Now, wouldn’t that be a surprise if that wound up being how things turned out?
