. player. 54. . . . Hassan Ridgeway, defensive tackle

The Philadelphia Eagles really love Hassan Ridgeway huh?

Of course Howie signed a defensive tackle! We knew there would be some roster shuffling in the City of Brotherly Love, but if you didn’t expect Hassan Ridgeway to be a part of the players the team actually added about a week ago, don’t turn your fan badge in yet. Some people cover this team every day that could have made an argument for why he wouldn’t be back.

Then, Malik Jackson got released, and you weren’t quite sure. The thing about Philly is this if you haven’t noticed. They’re pretty partial to guys they already know.

Ridgeway’s signing isn’t surprising. It wouldn’t have been surprising if they would have left him in the free-agency pool either. He’s a guy who has shown he has the ability when allowed to play. He’s just normally been buried on a depth chart due to the Birds having guys at defensive tackle who were just better.

Don’t be surprised if this young man gets extended playing time in 2021. Don’t be surprised if a few more inexpensive but familiar faces are back for another go at it too. This is an underwhelming yet solid signing at a position that suddenly needed some depth. Grade: B-
