If you didn’t know who the Philadelphia Eagles’ new addition was, don’t stress.

Who? That was the response by a considerable portion of the fan base when the news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles had signed safety Andrew Adams to a one-year deal on the second day of the new league year.

If you needed the help of a search engine to drum up a little info on Philly’s new safety, you’re not out of the loop. At 28 years of age, he’s already a bit of a journeyman.

He’s seen two stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and earned a Super Bowl ring for his troubles during the 2020-2021 season. He was drafted by the rival New York Giants. He spent the 2019 season with the Detroit Lions. In 78 career games, he’s tallied 172 total tackles with six interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 20 pass breakups. Those numbers include his work in five playoff games.

Unfortunately, when NFL fans remember the most recent Bucs championship team, Adams’ name won’t be one that many mention when people are discussing the guys that are responsible for making that happen. He was in for 23 defensive snaps during the regular season.

This signing is neither a bad nor a good one. It’s average. That isn’t to say Adams can’t be good if given a real opportunity. He’d probably be more productive if forced into action than Marcus Epps, but this is simply the addition of a body where Philly needed bodies. Stay tuned. We’ll have to wait and see what happens here. Grade: C-
