Philadelphia Eagles top 3 remaining free-agent options at every position
If the Philadelphia Eagles are to be a factor, they have to score more points.
Well, it’s officially the Jalen Hurts show in Philadelphia, however, in a loaded National Football Conference, they’re going to have to sustain drives better than they did in 2020. They’ll also need more points. That isn’t happening with the roster as it’s currently constructed.
Are there any guys in free agency that can help them? Here are the best options on offense at every position.
Quarterback: Alex Smith, Colt McCoy, C.J. Beathard
This isn’t the most impressive of quarterback options, but you try piecing together a list that features names like Chase Daniel, Robert Griffin III, and Blake Bortles.
Philly is actually considering Joe Flacco. That’s how bad things are in this free-agent market.
Running back: Mike Davis, Le’Veon Bell, Leonard Fournette
Jeff Wilson is a nice option who’s 25 years old, but he’s also a restricted free agent. Even if Philly made an offer, San Fran would be allowed to match or counter. That leaves Mikes Davis (28 years old), Le’Veon Bell who hasn’t been the same since he sat out, and Leonard Fournette who had some nice postseason showings but was, for the most part, a disappointment in Tampa.
Wide receiver: Antonio Brown, T.Y. Hilton, Dede Westbrook
Give Sammy Watkins an honorable mention on a list where the guys are either past their prime (Brown and Hilton) or young and a huge question mark (Westbrook).
Tight end: Trey Burton, Tyler Eifert, Jordan Reed
No comment. Let’s move on.
O-line: We’ll just list some guards and tackles
Your three best offensive tackles are Alejandro Villanueva, Mitchell Schwartz, and Rick Wagner. The best three guards are Lane Taylor, Trai Turner, and Mike Iupati. Philly has some options, but the list is full of guys who are injury-prone or aging or both.
