54. . . . Boston Scott. 2. player

Let’s just assume that Boston Scott is back in 2021.

When you pull up the Philadelphia Eagles’ current roster, you can make the argument that the only other running back besides Sanders that has earned a roster spot is Boston Scott. Yes, he’s five-foot-six. Sure, he was a sixth-round draft choice in 2018. Yes, we all know that he was only able to earn a spot on the New Orleans Saints practice squad once upon a time, but Scott has heart and talent.

We all love him for that. We just might need to accept two things about him if we’re being honest though.

One, Boston Scott might be the third running back despite Philly’s desire to slot him as the second option. The second thing is this. Boston Scott has to show up for those Eagles games that aren’t against the New York Giants. Nicknamed the ‘Giant Killer’, Scott hasn’t shown that he can dominate or even be largely successful versus anyone else consistently during the 2019 or 2020 campaigns.

Scott was one of the Eagles’ exclusive rights free agents as the 2021 offseason began. That means he has two or fewer accrued seasons and can’t negotiate or sign with another NFL team if he’s tendered.

So far, news on the Scott front has been nonexistent. Don’t be surprised if he’s retained though. If he is, he’ll be on the roster, and he will contribute. That’s more than we can say for the other guys that have been mentioned.
