If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, you know Flacco won’t play much longer.

In a perfect world, here’s how things work out if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. This Jalen Hurts thing works out. Joe Flacco provides some excellent mentorship and experience. Philly finds a nice option to secure the third-string role. Hey, maybe that third-stringer even grows into a solid option to move into the backup role at the season’s end.

Here’s the thing. By now, you’ve probably watched enough football to know that backup plans are key to building a successful franchise. Flacco is nearing the end of a decent career, but Philly needs to invest resources into finding a real backup option. Don’t be surprised if they draft a signal-caller in the draft’s late rounds.

By the time we’ll reach the third day, guys like Kyle Trask and Kellen Mond will no longer be options. K.J. Costello out of Texas A&M and Arkansas’ Feleipe Franks should still be on the board. Neither are polished, but for an Eagles team that we’re still not sure about at the signal-caller position, these are two guys that could make for decent projects.

Give the slight edge to Costello though. Franks has a ton of issues to clean up.
