3 Reasonable expectations for Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard
There’s no reason he shouldn’t be second on the Philadelphia Eagles RB depth chart.
While we haven’t even reached the NFL Draft, it’s seemingly already gotten to a point where we’re reaching what might be gridlock at the running back position for this Philadelphia Eagles team. Miles Sanders is firmly entrenched as the starter as he should be, but the Birds made waves by making a few other decisions about the position at other points of the offseason.
Philly tendered Boston Scott on March 1st before signing him to an exclusive rights contract about 26 days later. They also signed now second-year man Adrian Killins to a two-year deal on March 17th. Adding Howard gives Philly four running backs. History has taught us that’s generally what they carry on the 53-man roster.
Sure, there’s a chance that Nick Sirianni and his staff will carry five. That seems like it might be too many guys.
Jason Huntley is on the roster as well, but depending on what they do in the draft and who they sign as undrafted free agents, there’s really no reason to believe that Howard, with his experience, won’t overtake Boston Scott and be slotted lower than the second spot on the running back depth chart. We’re a long way from stating that officially, but as of right now, that seems to be where this is headed.
