A mock draft favorite lands with the Philadelphia Eagles.

At some point in the draft, the Eagles need to double-dip at cornerback. It doesn’t necessarily need to be back-to-back but Ifeatu Melifonwu is too good to pass up.

Darius Slay isn’t getting any younger. Avonte Maddox will hopefully be moved to the slot this year but is on thin ice. After those two, the only cornerbacks listed on the current roster are Michael Jacquet, Craig James, Lavert Hill, Jameson Houston, Kevon Seymour, and Shakial Taylor.

Even with Stokes drafted at 37, Melifonwu could be the Week 1 starter. Philly is getting a lengthy (78.5-inch wingspan) corner with a great frame (six-foot-two, 212 pounds) for the position.

Like Stokes, Meflifonwu is freaky athletic and excels in both man and zone. One trait that separates him from other corners is his efficiency in off-man coverage. I

n both press-man and off-man, the Syracuse product mirrors wideouts and recognizes route stems. Gannon gets a defensive back that can do anything that is asked of him.
