817. . . . Derek Stingley, LSU Tigers. 1. player

Derek Stingley might be the best of the bunch if you’re the Philadelphia Eagles.

Well, you were promised an SEC double-play. Here’s the guy that Philadelphia Eagles fans and fans of the other 31 NFL teams will be eyeball and gush over throughout the college football season.

When we were approaching the 2019 NFL Draft, LSU was celebrated for having the best quarterback prospect (Joe Burrow). That year, they also introduced the NFL world to the next big thing at wide receiver, and even though he sat out in 2020, no one forgot who Ja’Marr Chase was. He wound up being the first wide receiver off of everyone’s draft board in 2020.

Now, in 2021, LSU will be fielding the game’s best cover guy.

Derek Stingley Jr. is a six-foot-one and 195-pound monster that figures to make life miserable for anyone that he lines up across from. In his first two seasons at the collegiate level (that’s 22 games), he racked up 65 total tackles. Add that to six interceptions (all of which were in 2019), 20 pass breakups, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. His final season as a Bayou Bengal should be a treat.
