It’s Jalen Hurts season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Quarterbacks (2): Jalen Hurts, Joe Flacco

Regardless of opinions on Jalen Hurts, he is going to get a shot to prove himself during the 2021 season. The Birds need to see more of their second-round pick to determine what to do at the quarterback position beyond this transition season. Former Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco will mentor him as the backup quarterback.

Lastly, Philly could put recently signed Nick Mullens on the practice squad with the new CBA. At the same time, with his experience as a QB2, there is a good chance he could get scooped up by another team. This could go either way.

Mullens should thrive against lower-level competition as the third-string in the preseason and could very well earn a roster spot. It’s possible that Philadelphia will groom him to be the backup whenever Flacco’s time is up. For now, the Birds only keep two quarterbacks though and Mullens doesn’t get the nod.
