Philadelphia Eagles trade scenario number one

From the outside looking in, it just seems like Miami would be the place you’d want to be if you were young, single, and very successful, but hey, what do we know, right? It also seems like Howard, who just signed a five-year, $75.25 million deal like five minutes ago would be happy about his current state of affairs. Again, what do we know?

Here’s what NFL Network’s Michael Silver has to say on the subject.

That brings us back to Zach Ertz (yes, he’s still on the Philadelphia Eagles roster). Every Birds fan is well aware of what’s going on with his situation. Things now, seem unrepairable even if Philly technically doesn’t have to make a decision right now.

With all of that being said, here’s an idea. Philly trades the greatest tight end in the franchise’s history to the Dolphins for their cover guy. To spice things up, both teams get some draft capital. Miami, seemingly the team that could lose the most in this deal (Ertz is aging and deteriorating), gets a fourth-rounder in 2022’s NFL Draft. The Birds get a seventh-rounder that could become a sixth if Ertz satisfies certain incentives the two teams agree on.

Sure, some of you are thinking ‘salary cap’, but shedding Ertz’s salary does help make up some of the difference in what they’d have to pay Howard. That’s one idea, but just in case that one doesn’t jive with you, this next one could be the kicker.
