Philadelphia Eagles versus Atlanta: 5 Falcons to watch on defense

Grady Jarrett, defensive tackle

A mainstay on the Atlanta Falcons defense, Grady Jarrett has 98 career games with 83 starts on his resume. We should know how healthy this Eagles offensive line is and whether or not they’ve lost a step very early in the 2021 regular season thanks to tests like this one.

Fabian Moreau, cornerback

Philadelphia Eagles fans are very familiar with Fabian Moreau as his first four years in the National Football League came as a member of the Washington Football Team. In seven career games versus the Birds, he’s hauled down the guy with the ball 20 times to go along with six pass breakups, a forced fumble, and an interception.

Steven Means, outside linebacker

Steven Means is another familiar face in Eagles circles, but unlike Moreau, Means’ trek to Atlanta included a stop in the City of Brotherly Love. As a member of Philadelphia’s roster from 2016 to 2017, this young man appeared in 14 games and tallied six total tackles, a forced fumble, and two sacks.

Erik Harris, safety

The continuing development of Jalen Hurts will begin in the 2021 regular season with a test versus the Atlanta Falcons secondary and guys like Erik Harris. Hurts will have to know where he is at all times.

Deion Jones, outside linebacker

Deion Jones is a six-foot-one, 227-pound disruption waiting to happen. He has 74 games with 72 starts on his resume if you include what he’s done in the playoffs, and in his last 16 games, he racked up 106 total tackles. That includes 73 solo stops and nine tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Add that to two interceptions, six pass breakups, a forced fumble, and 4.5 sacks. Hurts and the Eagles’ offense will need to know where he is at all times.
