So, why is Mailata the best choice for the Philadelphia Eagles at left tackle?

We could state that Jordan Mailata’s tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles exceeds that of Dillard’s by a season and make arguments for that being the reason for all of this, but it’s deeper than that. The truth is as follows.

All men are not created to be equal. Stop letting people lie to you. Some people are rare. There are people who are the best players on their respective teams (or are the best at what they do), and they’re also the hardest workers. Those are guys like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant.

There are guys who could have been great at something, but they never worked hard enough. They just coasted, and we’re left to ask ourselves what might they have been had they had the work ethic. Think Rasheed Wallace. Think about your first memories of Michael Vick, and yes, think about Andre Dillard.

Jordan Mailata is the other type of individual. He’s like a Wes Welker, Chris Mullin, or Charles Oakley, guys who may not have possessed certain God-given traits, but they outworked everybody. That can’t be taught. That can’t be coached. It just catapults certain guys above others on the depth chart whenever those traits show up.
