Philadelphia Eagles biggest takeaways from Week 2’s loss to 49ers
Here’s good and bad news for Philadelphia Eagles fans.
2. Losing Brandon Graham for the season is a significant loss.
Most Philly fans saw the replay as a defensive end Brandon Graham looked to have twisted his ankle badly. Unfortunately, it’s more serious than that.
Derrick Gunn reported via Twitter that Graham had suffered a torn Achilles and will be out for the season. Graham has been a staple of this defense for the last decade and has only gotten better as time has gone on.
Philly will have to figure out what they are going to do to help bolster the other side of that front, possibly rookie Milton Williams to shift over to defensive end?
3. This defense can be one of the best in the league.
Even with the loss of Brandon Graham, holding the 49ers to only 17 points and holding the Falcons to six should be seen as wins. Philly’s defense is putting offenses on notice. They aren’t playing around.
Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave has become a wrecking ball for offensive lines. The secondary needs some work and have some cleaning up to do, but you can already see the improvement from last year. Put some context to it. Holding tight end George Kittle to only 17 yards is no easy task.
