3. Is there even a shot for the Philadelphia Eagles to win?

This is always a tricky question when facing a team like the Kansas City Chiefs. The Philadelphia Eagles’ chances are slim to none in beating this team, but hey, any given Sunday, right? Let’s check in to see what possibilities the experts are giving the Birds in Week 4.

Per ESPN.com’s power index, the Eagles have a 32.6% chance of winning this game. Okay, that is exceptionally generous. Much of that has to do with the Chiefs’ defense, and the Iggles are playing them at their house. However, there is a playbook that this team can follow to give them the best fight chance.

Taking almost the same game plan from the San Diego Chargers, the Birds have to control the time of possession. That means getting running back Miles Sanders going early on in the game. The next thing the Eagles need to do is take care of the ball. The Chiefs’ defense may be struggling, but that doesn’t mean that they do not have any talent waiting for Hurts to make a mistake.

The Eagles’ offense should look to hit those intermediate throws, getting both their tight ends and receivers in space (like they should have been doing) and allow them to drive the ball downfield. The screen game must be a big part of this game as well.

As far the defense, stick to their assignments and control their over pursuit in the pass rush. If Javon Hargrave and company come crashing through the line, Mahomes will look to escape.

The secondary has a challenging task in front of them, but if they keep their assignment in front of them, they should, (emphasize should) slow down Kansas City. To simply put, the Eagles coaching staff have a lot of work to do on a short week.
