2. The Philadelphia Eagles’ offense needs to get the ball out quickly.
Last week, Nick Sirianni drew up a lot of quick reads for Jalen Hurts and misdirection for the offense as a whole. We saw jailbreak screens, orbit motion with Kenny Gainwell, Jalen Reagor in the run game, and more.
While the run game could be integrated a bit more, the bounce back from Jalen Hurts and the offense after a bad Week 3 loss was encouraging. As we discussed earlier this week, this week won’t be easy by any means with an aggressive Panthers defense coming to town. The Eagles will need more of that this week along with some creativity in the run game.
Fans would love to see more involvement of the wide receivers in the run game whether that is on end around, reverses, and jet sweeps or just putting them in the backfield every once in a while. The screen game has been active and that’ll be crucial to keep it rolling this week.
The tight ends and running backs should be utilized pretty heavily as well with Shaq Thompson, the quarterback of Carolina’s defense, out for this week. Gainwell and Sanders should be able to draw some mismatches in man coverage as well as Goedert and Ertz as long as Jeremy Chinn isn’t around. T
