Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Keys to victory versus Carolina Panthers
By Hunter Doyle
3. The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense can’t break.
For a fanbase that got used to Jim Schwartz’s bend but don’t break defense, the last two weeks have been infuriating. Jonathan Gannon’s defense has been dominated by the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs.
Carolina might not be on that level but they’re easily above average. D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson both have chemistry with Sam Darnold. Terrace Marshall can come in and take some pressure off of them. Then, add Christian McCaffery who can do everything. This could be another long day for the linebackers.
Darnold can also get it done with his legs. Last week, Joe Brady called a swing route and Micah Parsons followed which allowed Darnold to scored on the draw.
He also scored on a speed option. Brady knows how to put his personnel in a position to succeed. The Birds need to keep everything in front of them.
Shutting down Carolina’s offense is a tall task but limiting them in the red zone could put the Birds in a good position to win this game. Gannon has shown some impressive blitz packages but hasn’t gone to them too often.
With Brandon Graham out, this defensive line hasn’t been the same and it could help to send some extra pressure or at least disguise it. Maybe some double-a gap from Mike Zimmer’s scheme could help.
