Philadelphia Eagles versus Tampa Bay: Buccaneers to watch on defense

The Eagles’ offense is presented with another huge hill in Week 6. Here are the standouts from the Bucs’ defense.

Shaquil Barrett, linebacker

One of the best in the game at his position, Shaquil Barrett has continued his game-altering ways during the first five games of the 2021 season having already racked up 18 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception.

Richard Sherman, cornerback

Dare we say one of the best methods of attack for this Eagles offense is to challenge Richard Sherman? As strange as that may sound, no one besides Tom Brady gets better in this game as they get older.

Sherman deserves his respect, but DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, and Jalen Reagor should be able to separate from him from time to time.

William Gholston, defensive end

The Birds simply can’t afford to have William Gholston tee off on Jalen Hurts. He already has two sacks on the season.

Vita Vea, nose tackle

It’s not like the Birds run the ball anyway, but if they decide to try it, the six-foot-four, 347-pound Vita Vea is quite the obstacle in the middle of the Buccaneers’ defensive line.

Ndamukong Suh, defensive end

Much like Tom Brady, longtime NFL star Ndamukong Suh must have a fountain of youth in his backyard. So far, on 205 defensive snaps in 2021, Suh has only been able to muster seven tackles and a sack, but a top-notch performance from this guy can come at any time. Let’s hope ‘any time’ isn’t Thursday.
