Another Eagles player prop worth taking advantage of in Week 7

Bet No. 2

  • Devonta Smith Total Receptions (Over 4.5) -125

Jalen Hurts isn’t the only skill player that’s experiencing growing pains during the 2021 NFL season. His new go-to guy, DeVonta Smith, is being given a crash course in playing ball at the professional level.

The catch radius for NFL wide receivers is smaller. Throwing windows for the quarterback are tighter. It’s much more difficult to find open areas to operate in the defensive secondary.

Smith has also learned that he’s going to work harder to win at the snap and catch a few balls with guys draped all over him. Those big plays don’t come as frequently versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys as they do versus Arkansas and Ole Miss.

DeVonta has another huge test to pass in Week 7. He’s likely to find himself in a few matchups with Casey Hayward Jr., and according to Pro Football Focus, he’s played 388 defensive snaps, 237 in coverage, and he has yet to allow a touchdown reception.

Smith will get some opportunities. If the Eagles and Jalen Hurts haven’t done anything else, they’ve tried to get the ball into his hands. He was only targeted four times in the loss to Tampa, so look for him to get a few more opportunities in Las Vegas.

The over, 4.5 receptions, sounds feasible, but we don’t believe he’ll get into the end zone unless Philadelphia’s coaching staff tries some sort of weird reverse.
