Philadelphia Eagles running back Jordan Howard

How about Jordan Howard huh? He turned the clock back versus the Detroit Lions in Week 8. Now, before some of you begin asking questions about how a 26-year-old turns the clock back, you have to remember that there were moments in 2020, with both the Eagles and Miami Dolphins, in which it appeared that Howard had lost several steps.

Whenever he took the handoff, whether in South Beach or the City of Brotherly Love, there often appeared to be holes for him to run through, and just as often as that happened those same holes seemed to close because it looked like he was simply too slow to run through them.

Sure, he had a decent camp in 2021, but once it was all said and done, this former Pro Bowl nod was released on August 31st and, then, re-signed to the practice squad the next day. None of the other 31 NFL teams were making any real attempt to sign Howard off of the Eagles’ practice squad and onto their active roster, so Number 24 simply faded into the background.

As you know, Howard was elevated to the active roster following Miles Sanders’ injury. You’re also aware that he looked very good versus the Lions; however, we’ve seen that before. We’ve also seen him succumb to injuries, so the questions now are about whether or not he can keep delivering performances like the one we saw in Week 8, whether or not the Eagles coaches will continue to stick with the run, and whether or not Howard can stay healthy.

If the answer to those questions is yes, Philly might have a very nice weapon on their hands.
