Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave

The 2021-2022 season couldn’t have gotten off to a more torrid start than it did for Javon Hargrave. Try six sacks over the first five weeks on for size.

Typically, before this season, the game plan for most opposing defenses whose teams had the Birds on the schedule involved putting two bodies on Fletcher Cox. That doesn’t happen as often as it used to, but you can best believe that, once everyone realized that Hargrave was a force to be reckoned with, the double-team philosophy was employed yet again. This time, Philly’s other defensive tackle was the focus.

Since Week 6, Hargrave has one sack and one tackle that’s resulted in a loss of yardage. The production may not be what Hargrave wants at the moment, but he still possesses that game-changing ability.

Make no mistake about it. Javon Hargrave still possesses that game-altering ability. He needs some of his teammates around him to step up. In the meantime, you can relax if you’re beginning to have doubts. This six-foot-two, 305-pound trench warrior may soon take the mantle from Cox as one of the leaders on this Eagles defense.
