87. . . . Carolina Panthers. 27. team

The Eagles’ wins over Carolina and New Orleans are nice feathers in the cap.

The way the NFL handles and values its head-to-head wins is a lot easier to understand than the methods the College Football Playoff selection committee uses to put its rankings together. Thank goodness for that.

The Eagles have wins versus the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints in their back pocket. That’s a good thing as we inch closer to the postseason.

. . . Chicago Bears. 26. team. 57

The Chicago Bears gave the Green Bay Packers all that they could handle in Week 14 and lost anyway. The postseason probably isn’t in the cards, and that may spell doom for Matt Nagy.

team. 15. . . . New Orleans Saints. 25

If you haven’t learned anything else from the New Orleans Saints this season, it should be this. Teams that don’t have their franchise signal-caller are doomed.

With Drew Brees at the helm, this was a perennial contender. Without him, they were even respectable with Jameis Winston under center. Without Winston, this team went from Halloween to Thanksgiving (and beyond) minus a win.

They throttled the Jets in Week 14, but you know what’s coming, right? It’s the Jets! This isn’t the Saints year, but Sean Payton and so many players on this team can be trusted. They just need to find another franchise quarterback.
