Eagles get bad news on one of their starters ahead of Washington game
Why does it always have to be good news/bad news with this Philadelphia Eagles team? Just as we all were finally getting over the fact that the NFL’s league offices screwed the Birds by moving what was supposed to be a Sunday afternoon game to one that will be played on Tuesday evening (hey, some of us don’t heal as quickly as others), the smiles that crossed our face early on Sunday have been replaced by Sunday evening eye-rolls.
A little over four hours after the Eagles reported that Quez Watkins and Jason Huntley were both activated from Philly’s Reserve/COVID-19 list, it appears that the Birds might still be down one of their starters by the time we reach the kickoff of a long-awaited Week 15 game.
The Eagles announce they’re placing Landon Dickerson on the COVID-19 list.
Though none of us believed that the dangers of coronavirus were totally in our rear-view mirrors, it did seem like things were slowly approaching a state of normalcy. That’s when it happened. A new strain has reminded all of us of the importance of being extra cautious during this global health crisis.
The effects are also being felt by the entire National Football League as several Week 15 games have seen postponements, including the aforementioned decision to move Philadelphia’s battle with the Washington Football Team. It’s now one of the last two games scheduled in this week’s slate.
Many of the members of Washington’s roster sit on their COVID-19 list. Philly, as mentioned earlier, had wiped their slate clean, that is until now. According to an official team report by Chris McPherson, the Eagles are adding Landon Dickerson to the COVID-19 list.
He’ll need two negative tests now to be eligible for the game on Tuesday. With the lateness of the hour, that seems unlikely. If he can’t play, it’s likely that the Eagles could move Nate Herbig from the right guard to the left guard position. If that doesn’t happen, Sua Opeta or Brett Toth seems like the more likeliest of possibilities to fill in at left guard.
