10 Sub-radar Philadelphia Eagles and how they can help a playoff push
By Hunter Doyle
The focus shifts to the Philadelphia Eagles’ special teams.
Patrick Johnson has primarily played on special teams after receiving a good number of snaps in the first three weeks. The 23-year-old will likely find himself on the field more in 2022 but Gannon might benefit from using him as a pass rusher more especially with the evident issues at the position. Johnson was crafty in how he got to the quarterback at Tulane and did it from multiple different spots on the line.
Genard Avery is currently playing the SAM position and has earned it but it’d be nice to see Johnson get some reps as a standup rusher and not just in the 4-3 under looks or playing in the box in the base defense.
If anything happens to Avery, Johnson is good depth and he has also been part of a solid punt team. As is tradition, a big part of this list is highlighting the special teams’ standouts.
