Philadelphia Eagles game balls from Week 16’s win versus Giants

Stud: Josh Sweat, defensive end

It sounds weird to say that the Eagles defense kept them in it versus the Giants early, but that’s what happened. Josh Sweat was key in keeping the Giants from getting in a rhythm with two big stops on third down and a nice sack in the second half.

Stud: DeVonta Smith, wide receiver

With less than five minutes to go in the first half (and on a drive following another that ended with a missed field goal), the Eagles struck gold with a 46-yard bomb that eventually led to a game-tying field goal.

It didn’t seem like much at the time, but that finally got something going. It seems like this would happen more often if DeVonta Smith was more of a focal point in the offense. He isn’t targeted enough. Check out his touchdown grab if you need evidence.

Studs: Marcus Epps and Rodney McLeod

Marcus Epps is proving, week after week, that he needs to be kept around for a while. Rodney McLeod’s interception shifted the momentum in Philadelphia’s favor for good, and the second pick-six of Alex Singleton’s career came off of a McLeod deflection.

It was just another day at the office for the veteran.

Stud: Jalen Hurts, quarterback

It was an ugly first half, but QB1 Jalen Hurts hung in there. That’s all that you can ask for. He finished with 17 completions on 29 pass attempts resulting in 199 yards and two touchdowns.

Stud: Milton Williams, defensive lineman

The impact Milton Williams has had as of late hasn’t always shown up on the stat sheet. He’s been a disrupter and has grown with each passing week. Still, people want to see sacks, and coming into Week 16, Big Milt only had one.

It was good to see him get on the stat sheet in this one with his second sack of the season.
