2 Eagles records that will be broken in Philadelphia’s final two games
The Eagles rushing attack will break the franchise record for rushing yards in a season.
Here’s one more thing to think about when it comes to DeVonta Smith. One has to remember that he’s accomplished what he has on an offense whose identity revolves around running the football. Have you watched this Eagles team play on offense recently? Something happens when this offensive line is allowed to line up and play some ‘bully ball’.
Take Philly’s first game versus the Washington Football Team for instance. Jason Kelce is flying downfield to make blocks. Guys are fired up. The Eagles’ offensive line doesn’t love anything more than firing off of the ball and pushing people around.
That’s not all. Even though there have been times when the coaching staff has forgotten that a great rushing attack travels (and running the ball has worked for decades), Philly has a chance to set the franchise record for rushing yards in a single season.
The 1949 version knocked people around for 2,607 yards in 1949. The Birds are 160 yards away from toppling that mark to close the 2021-2022 regular season. We’re calling it now. Under the leadership of offensive line coach/running game coordinator Jeff Stoutland, there should be zero reasons to worry.
