Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams

All season long, we’ve either heard guys like Fletcher Cox or Javon Hargrave complain about being underutilized in Jonathan Gannon’s scheme or we’ve discussed some of those things in our circles. There are times when we say that guys are doing the right things, and it isn’t showing up on the stat sheet. There are other times when we believe them when they say it.

Needless to say, in some of those instances, the facts are a bit skewed. Professional athletes don’t see that sometimes though. It’s much easier to blame someone else for something that you aren’t doing. That brings us to Milton Williams.

Much was expected of the six-foot-three, 290-pound defensive lineman that cut his teeth in the same Louisiana Tech Bulldogs program that produced Boston Scott. After all, the Birds did use a third-round draft choice on this guy.

Heading into Week 18, Williams has settled in as the third man in Philadelphia’s defensive tackle rotation as he’s surpassed Hassan Ridgeway and Marlon Tuipulotu. Williams can play both inside and outside, and again, even though the ‘everything he’s doing isn’t showing up on the stat sheet’ angle is overused, in this case, it applies.

Williams is wreaking havoc. The statistical evidence will come.
