Potential Eagles prospect Jermaine Johnson, EDGE

It’s hard to determine how these things work out sometimes. We expect this list to change a couple of times between now and April’s NFL Draft, but there’s always a need for EDGE help in the NFL.

We could see a run on defensive ends early and a scenario where Philly is selecting somewhere around the 20th pick or later. Kayvon Thibodeaux will be long gone. It will be interesting to see how teams value George Karlaftis of the Purdue Boilermakers, but Jermaine Johnson is someone that should be available and getting some attention towards the end of the first round.

He’s six-foot-four and comes from a program that produces a lot of NFL talent. The last time the Eagles drafted an EDGE guy from FSU, things worked out pretty well. You’ve heard of that Josh Sweat fella, right?

811. . . . Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan. . player

Potential Eagles prospect Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE

Here’s a look at how the best defensive ends in the coming draft shape up (if we were to put a top-five list together):

  • Kayvon Thibodeaux (Oregon Ducks)
  • Aidan Hutchinson (Michigan Wolverines)
  • George Karlaftis (Purdue Boilermakers)
  • Jermaine Johnson (Florida State Seminoles)
  • David Ojabo (Michigan Wolverines)

You won’t have to work hard to find Birds fans that love Aidan Hutchinson and would like to see him in an Eagles jersey. The questions, as we move through February into March and eventually settle into April are about who moves up and down draft boards and, if Hutchinson does wind up being one of the top EDGE prospects available, will the Eagles even have a shot at landing him?
