Potential Eagles prospect Kayvon Thibodeaux, defensive end

Arguments can be made that, before the Philadelphia Eagles address any other position, they have to figure out what they do in terms of satisfying their EDGE needs. In terms of the best available draft targets that will be in the discussion, Kayvon Thibodeaux figures to be at the top of everyone’s board when they begin making a list of the premier defensive ends that will be available.

Is it okay to call him a sure thing, or are we unable to make that declaration at the moment?

Three of the top four players on the Eagles depth chart at the defensive end position could be out of the door come free agency (Brandon Graham, Ryan Kerrigan, and Derek Barnett). That would leave Philly with Josh Sweat, Tarron Jackson, and practice squad guys like Matt Leo and Cameron Malveaux as options. That isn’t ideal.

Landing Kayvon Thibodeaux would be a massive upgrade for the Philadelphia Eagles; however, there’s no way he makes it out of the top ten. He may not make it out of the top five. That means the Birds will need to shift their attention towards a few consolation prizes.

Guys like Aidan Hutchinson (Michigan Wolverines), George Karlaftis (Purdue Boilermakers),  David Ojabo (Michigan Wolverines), and Travon Walker (Georgia Bulldogs) are among the best prospects available once Thibodeaux’s been grabbed by someone.
