Philadelphia Eagles 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Super Bowl LVI edition
The Philadelphia Eagles finally take a linebacker in Round 1.
Yep! We’re all in. The linebacker position has been devalued by this team long enough. It’s time for Jerry Robinson (the last linebacker Philly took in Round 1), wherever he is, to pop the cork on some champagne. Devin Lloyd does just about everything in exceptional fashion, and he’ll be the best backer available if Damone Clark is off of the board like we expect him to be.
The Eagles have to take a defensive end in Round 1, don’t they? Doesn’t it feel that way? We’re going to put a check in the box marked ‘yes’ and throw that one in the ballot box.
Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that this draft class is loaded with EDGE talent. Ask most draft pundits and scouts who do this for a living, and they’ll tell you that, while that’s true, they could come off of the board quickly and often.
We mock Michigan’s David Ojabo to the Eagles at 16 because we’re feeling like Kayvon Thibodeaux and Aidan Hutchinson come off of the board at one and two to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions. We’ve got George Karlaftis going to the Atlanta Falcons at the eighth-overall selection meaning David Ojabo is available for the Eagles at 16.
It would be easy to see the word ‘cornerback’ and the name ‘Washington Huskies’ and get nervous as a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Please don’t hold the failures of Sidney Jones against Trent McDuffie. He’s solid.
Here’s what must be considered. The Eagles have to land a star corner in this draft, and with it being very likely that Derek Stingley and Ahmad Gardner are off of the board, McDuffie will be the best available option at 19.
