The Eagles land the draft’s best interior lineman again.

In the game of football, no one is ever going to complain about building a competitive roster by following the script that has worked for teams time and time again, strengthening the offensive line. Sure, you have to have the franchise quarterback if you want to be an elite organization on a year-in and year-out basis, but don’t let what you’ve seen with the Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow fool you.

99 times out of 100, if you don’t have a line that can protect your signal-caller, your team has no shot. What the Bengals accomplished during the 2021-2022 NFL season is the exception to the rule and not the rule itself, so when the Eagles took an offensive lineman in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, even though other moves could have been seen as being sexier, no one batted an eyelash.

With three first-round picks, it’s easy to lust after some of college football’s flashier stars. Sure, Philadelphia could have taken a cornerback or an EDGE guy in Round 2 last year, but Landon Dickerson was the right choice. The Birds landed the best interior lineman in last year’s draft.

Here’s our prediction. In 2022, they take the best interior lineman in this year’s selection meeting as well. Tyler Linderbaum is as safe a bet as any, and he’s a potential successor to Jason Kelce’s throne. Linderbaum isn’t as athletic as the man that has anchored the Eagles O-line for the past 11 seasons, but let’s be honest. No one else is either. This is a solid move that helps the Birds O-line operate at a high level for the next ten seasons.
