. . OJ Howard, tight end. . player. 48.

O.J. Howard gives the Eagles a nice one-two punch at tight end.

NFL pundits, regardless of platform or affiliation, have taken a liking to what Dallas Goedert is becoming at the tight end position. The Eagles’ clear-cut TE1 recently cracked the list of Pro Football Focus’ top 101 NFL players at number 23, but this isn’t as deep a tight end grouping as Birds fans have enjoyed over the past few years.

Right now, once you get past Goedert, the Eagles have a big former quarterback who they’d like to be good but isn’t (Tyree Jackson). They also have Jack Stoll, Tyree Jackson, Jason Croom, Noah Togiai, and Richard Rodgers hanging around as we approach the next NFL Scouting Combine. It’s safe to say that they’d be wise to look around.

O.J. Howard was the 19th-overall selection in 2017’s NFL Draft. That’s five spots after Philly drafted Derek Barnett if you’re keeping score. He was also a teammate of Jalen Hurts’ during the 2016 college football season when both played for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He and Jalen know each other very well.

If Philadelphia is interested, he’d be a nice companion piece for Godert. The questions are about whether they’d be willing to pay the price he’d, no doubt, demand.
