6 free agents who would love playing with Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
There are defensive stars who’d love to play with the Eagles and Jalen Hurts too.
During his college football career at Alabama, Jalen Hurts completed just under 63 percent of his passes en route to 5,626 passing yards and 48 passing touchdowns. He added another 1,976 yards on 381 carries and scored 23 more times as a rusher. Ronnie Harrison saw a lot of that production as he was one of Hurts’ teammates as these two were teammates during the 2016 and 2017 college football seasons.
They were both a part of the College Football Playoff National Championship team as key components in that phenomenal squad Bama fielded in 2017. As you might imagine, the NFL came calling for both guys.
As a professional, Harrison hasn’t produced fireworks per se, but he’s been decent. The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him in Round 3, 93rd-overall, in the 2018 NFL Draft, and after they traded him to the Cleveland Browns on September 3rd of 2020, he’s appeared in 25 games with 19 starts. That’s resulted in 103 total tackles, two sacks, ten pass breakups, two interceptions, and a defensive touchdown. Those numbers include the playoffs.
Harrison isn’t a perennial all-pro by any means. He’s never been voted to a Pro Bowl, but neither has Rodney McLeod or Anthony Harris, two guys the Eagles could move on from during the offseason. If that’s part of the offseason, plan Harrison could be someone the Birds slide in who simultaneously doesn’t cost them a ton of cash to employ. That’s always a good thing when you’re building a roster.
