4 QBs in NFL Draft carousel the Philadelphia Eagles must avoid
For the Eagles (and everyone else), the evaluation of Pickett and Willis continues.
Though it may not seem like it (and though it seems like time flies), we’re still a long way from the end of April and the next draft. We have an NFL Scouting Combine and Pro Days to evaluate, and during that time, prospects will rise while others will fall. In the meantime, here’s where we stand in terms of how the next class of future NFL QBs ranks with March approaching.
Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis are the cream of this class’s crop, and they’re number one and number two at the position on most draft boards respectively. They could be drafted during the first 14 selections before the Birds are on the clock.
Maybe the Carolina Panthers are interested. Maybe the Washington Commanders give one a look, but once you get past those two, it feels like everyone else is deserving of Day 2 grades, even if they’re taken earlier.
Nevada’s Carson Strong is also intriguing. He escapes our list of QBs to avoid, but he’s also a Day 2 guy. He completed 70 percent of his passes and threw for 4,175 yards and 36 touchdowns while only tossing eight interceptions in 2021; however, you have to look at the level of his competition, and that could tell the story about how he’s evaluated in the coming months.
Strong won’t be a first-rounder unless he has a phenomenal spring, but he could be an intriguing choice for Philly if he’s available in the mid-rounds or later. That brings us to the guys who make minimal sense.
Here’s an honest and critical look at four guys. They’ve proven to be worthy of getting their shot in the NFL, but after taking our time and looking at a lot of film, we’ve weeded them out. They’re among the more intriguing QBs in the draft’s carousel that the Philadelphia Eagles have to avoid.
