6 Potential cap casualties Eagles can target at edge rusher
The Eagles won’t trade for Frank Clark, but maybe they sign him later?
There’s no nice way to say this. Frank Clark‘s contract isn’t anywhere close to being what we would call ‘team-friendly’. The Kansas City Chiefs will have to pay him $26.3 million if he hangs around this season. They’re on the hook for $12.9 million if they move on.
That isn’t even the worst part. He’s signed through the 2023 season, one in which they’ll need to set aside another $27.8 million to cover his massive salary. Based on the results they’ve gotten from him on the field and with the knowledge that there’s a potential out they can exercise this offseason, it’s hard to imagine they won’t utilize it.
Sure, K.C. could see if there’s any possibility of dangling him in front of the other 31 franchises as trade bait to see if there are any takers, but seriously, where ae they going to find one?
It appears that all roads lead to a divorce between star player and the team he appeared in 43 games for and recorded 18.5 sacks in the process. When and if he hits the market, he’ll cost the Birds a pretty penny, but it won’t be as much as he’s making now if they decide to show some serious interest.
Don’t be shocked if he’s available after the first wave of free agency and after the next NFL Draft if the Chiefs move on.
