As you’re aware, if anyone can screw up the 2022 NFL Draft, it’s the Eagles.

It would seem, with the knowledge that the Philadelphia Eagles have ten draft choices and two first-round picks, that the buzz surrounding the next NFL Draft would be through the roof. Sure, there’s excitement, but there’s also this underlying fear.

What if Howie Roseman finds a way to screw this up? It isn’t like we haven’t seen that happen before.

Every NFL team makes draft errors. In Howie’s defense, he’s made some great decisions. DeVonta Smith, Lane Johnson, Josh Sweat, and Jordan Mailata are all perfect examples of that. The problem is, when he’s missed, he missed big time.

Eight players were taken a little over five years ago during the 2017 NFL Draft. Only one of those former prospects is still on the team. Sadly, that’s Derek Barnett, and we’re still waiting for him to catch fire.

Every NFL franchise gambles on players and misfires. No one is asking Howie to be perfect. We’re just asking him not to take someone like JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Jalen Reagor when guys like D.K. Metcalf and Justin Jefferson are available. Seriously, how is it possible that we knew those were mistakes when they happened and he didn’t?

All’s well that ends well. Eagles Nation will continue to heal from past wounds if this next draft is a good one, but don’t blame us if we’re a tad nervous. Too many times, we’ve invested emotionally only to be let down in the end, and no one wants another heartbreak come the end of April.

Fingers are crossed. Grab those good-luck charms. Here are two mistakes the Eagles can’t make once we reach the end of April.
