18. player. 844. . WR. Razorbacks . Treylon Burks

Treylon Burks is the Eagles’ choice at the 18th-overall selection.

There are plenty of wide receivers who would fit what the Eagles could use at the position. All of the top five guys (London, Wilson, Burks, Olave, Williams) are potential superstars. We personally think Skyy Moore belongs on that list as well but that’s a conversation for another time. Tripling down on first-round receivers would be a bold move but the Birds do have plenty of draft capital if they want to do so.

As previously mentioned, there are always plenty of smokescreens on draft week. There hasn’t been much talk about Burks to the Eagles but his playmaking ability could make him the best player available at pick 18.

We scouted him following the 2020 season and revisited his film over the past few months. The ease with which he stacks corners is hard to pass up. His best ability might be his vision in the open field and yards after the catch and after contact.

There are instances in which he could attack leverage better and adjust his route to what the defense is showing but it wasn’t a major issue. There were reps where he handled it just fine.

Offensive coordinators will put an emphasis on getting the ball into Burks’ hands and letting him handle the rest. That alone will open up more for DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert and it won’t’ be possible to just bracket all three players with a cover 7 look in the endzone. One of them is going to get a one-on-one matchup. The best part is that Burks can line up almost anywhere he is needed adding more versatility to the offense.

We’ve been high on Burks’ potential for a while. It’s probably more likely that the Eagles go defense with someone like Booth here which we would love as we previously noted.

Names like Trent McDuffie,  George Karlaftis, Devonte Wyatt, Chris Olave, and Devin Lloyd could all be in play. Burks just brings a different type of explosiveness to any offense. The Deebo Samuel comparison is a bit of a stretch given how Deebo carried the 49ers’ offense but Burks should have a similar impact in the open field.
