. Donovan McNabb (1999). 14. player. 54. .

There’s no denying Donovan McNabb is one of the greatest Philadelphia Eagles of all time.

Many years after his final game with the Philadelphia Eagles was played, the mention of Donovan McNabb still evokes varying emotions. Fans young and old are constantly on opposite sides about how his time in midnight green should be remembered.

Some see him as one of the best players in franchise history (which is a fact). Others see him as a guy who could have been so much more if he hadn’t been the constant joker (which may also be true).

Donovan never took himself too seriously, but make no mistake about it. When it was time to lace up the cleats, he was all business. Some of his passing records have fallen, but statistically, the second-overall pick of the 1999 NFL Draft is still the greatest Eagles quarterback in franchise history.

In 11 seasons with the Birds, he found his way onto six Pro Bowl rosters. He’s a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Eagles 75th-anniversary team, and his jersey is retired. No one will ever wear the number 5 again thanks to 2,801 completions, 32,873 passing yards, 216 passing touchdowns, another 3,249 yards on 573 rushing attempts, and 28 more trips to the end zone with his legs, and that’s just what he did in 148 regular-season games with 142 starts.

In 16 postseason games, he racked up 3,752 yards and 24 touchdowns on 341 completions, and he reached the end zone four more times as a runner while amassing 422 yards on 72 rushing attempts. If that doesn’t say ‘all-time great’ nothing will.
