Top 15 draft picks taken in Philadelphia Eagles history
The Philadelphia Eagles hit a sixth-round home run in 2011.
There aren’t many football stories that are better than the one belonging to Jason Kelce’s NFL journey. You know about Kurt Warner living one of the great real-life fairy tales. John Randle was an undrafted rookie free agent that found his way onto seven Pro Bowl rosters and, eventually, the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Stories like those tug at the heartstrings and remind us of why we love the game in the first place. Sometimes, we think of these guys in terms of Fantasy football rankings and their overall Madden rating. They’re real people though, and one of the most beloved players/people/characters to ever don the midnight green is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Jason Kelce.
Once a sixth-round draft choice that was labeled as ‘undersized’, Philadelphia threw their fishing rod in the same pool that netted them Trent Cole and Brent Celek, the Cincinnati Bearcats football program. What they found was a young man who would wind up being one of the best players this organization has ever seen.
Kelce has seen multiple Pro Bowls. He’s been named a First-Team All-Pro a few times. He’s even won a Super Bowl, and he followed that up by delivering the greatest speech in the history of victory parades. There’s only one more place for him to go… Canton, Ohio.
Something tells us that won’t be a big ask. Until the announcement is official, he’s a Hall of Famer in our book. Not bad for a guy formerly known as the 191st-overall selection, huh?
